IAFCC Legislative Breakfast
Feb 13th, 2024
CommunityHealth hosted a gathering for state legislators, as part of our advocacy work with the Illinois Association of Free & Charitable Clinics (IAFCC). We were also joined by representatives from fellow IAFCC clinics Mobile Care Chicago, Chicago Women’s Health Center, and The Night Ministry to speak directly to legislators about the impact of free clinics on public health, and the impact of state funding on our clinics. Thanks to our advocacy efforts, IAFCC received a $9 million allocation for budget year 2025, which is distributed to clinics across Illinois.

All In Breakfast Summit: Meeting the Migrant Health Need
April 16th, 2024
Our 10th annual Breakfast Summit was focused on Meeting the Migrant Health Need. Between July 2023 and July 2024, the US Census Bureau estimates that 96,448 international immigrants settled in Chicagoland. CommunityHealth played a key role in providing health screenings and establishing partnerships with organizations to ensure that our new neighbors found their way to our clinic. For the 2024 Breakfast Summit, it only made sense to invite fellow members of the safety net to join CommunityHealth CEO Steph Willding on an informative panel about harnessing the power of collaboration to address the essential needs of the migrant population. Panelists (pictured L to R): Mario F. Garcia, Executive Director of Onward Neighborhood House; Dr. Evelyn Figueroa, Director of Pilsen Food Pantry; Dr. Olusimbo (Simbo) Ige, Commissioner of Chicago Department of Public Health; Steph Willding, Chief Executive Officer of CommunityHealth Moderator: Kristen Schorsch, Reporter for WBEZ Chicago

Associate Board: Run for Health, Giving Tuesday
Shout out to our amazing Associate Board members, who helped us raise over $25,000 through their stewardship and events! In May, they hosted and participated in the Run for Health 5K at Humboldt Park, and for Giving Tuesday in November, they hosted a trivia event at the Beetle Bar and Grill. We’re so grateful for all our dedicated community members who shout their support of CommunityHealth from the rooftops!

VSP Vision Event
CommunityHealth partnered with VSP Vision to offer free glasses to our patients, often a challenging item to secure! After completing their free eye exam, participating patients can try different styles and select their favorite frames. VSP notes their prescription and preference, and patients receive their new glasses within the month!

Patient Advisory Council/Patient Town Hall

To kick off 2024, our Spanish-speaking Patient Advisory Council organized a patient town hall event, where all CommunityHealth patients had the opportunity to provide direct feedback.
We’re so grateful to these dedicated patient leaders who take time out of their lives to help improve the CommunityHealth patient experience.
